oy vey….
A Jewish businessman in Chicago sent his son to Israel for a year to absorb the culture.
When the son returned, he said, “Papa, I had a great time in Israel. Oh, and by the way, I converted to Christianity.”
“Oy vey,” said the father. ”What have I done?” He took his problem to his best friend, Ike.
“Ike,” he said, “I sent my son to Israel, and he came home a Christian. What can I do?”
“Funny you should ask,” said Ike. ” I, too, sent my son to Israel, and he also came home a Christian. Perhaps we should go see the rabbi.”
So they did….and they explained their problem to the rabbi.
“Funny you should ask,” said the rabbi. ”I,too, sent my son to Israel and he also came home a Christian. What is happening to our young people?”
And so they all prayed, tell the Lord about their sons.
As they finished their prayer, a voice came from the heavens: ”Funny you should ask,” said the Voice, “I too, sent my Son to Israel……”
HAPPY EASTER MY FRIENDS!!!! HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!!!!

day after…day what…..
Ok, so we’re on our last day in Israel. It’s going to be action packed and begins at 5:30am and never ends……no, seriously…..it never ended. We had a lot of ground to cover and then we had to get back to the hotel, pack and leave for the airport, where our flight left at 11:55pm. Yes. 11:55 PM! This was going to be a loooooong, rainy and cold day for us, for sure. BUT…..when you put on your armor in the morning (Ephesians 6:10-18)you can be prepared for anything!!
So let’s all go to the Garden. Yes, the Garden of Gethsamane. Known to have some of the oldest olive trees in the Holy Land! The trees that are present now are actually the saplings of the original olive trees from the time of Jesus.
Nice to go there and meditate, and imagine that you are at the same tree that Jesus sat, when He prayed.
Again, it was another rainy day but that didn’t keep us from our mission! We had to see EVERYTHING!
From King David’s Tomb, to the Mount of Olives, to the Garden Tomb….I’m running out of breath. But one of the coolest places we visited was the Temple Mount.
This is located in one of the world’s most significant pieces of land. It is the site of the Temples built by Solomon and Herod and is the most sacred site for the Jewish people. It’s been said that it is the place where “the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground” (Genesis 2:7) and where Abraham bound Isaac for sacrifice. It is also the same site that David bought from Araunah (Oman) the Jebusite, for fifty shekels of silver, to build an altar to the Lord. His son Solomon took seven years to build a small but lavishly decorated Temple here. This is where the Ark of the Covenant (containing the 10 commandments). Then the Temple was destroyed by the Babylonians and built about 50 years later. I could go on and on about who built and who destroyed… but when Caliph Omar went to Jerusalem in 638, he found the hilltop trashed out and desolate. And since this was the spot that was considered to be Mohammed’s journey to heaven, he decided to build a mosque.
Today the Temple Mount (Dome of the Rock) has been built on the same spot where the Temple once stood. It is sacred to the Jews, the Christians AND the Muslims….(can’t we all just get along?) It is beautiful and creepy, all at the same time.
But check this out….THAT is the Eastern Gate or the Golden Gate. This is cool because the Bible indicates that Jesus passed through these gates frequently AND THIS is the gate that He will enter and reign FOREVER!
According to the Bible, the Messiah will come through the Golden Gate of the old city of Jerusalem and will bring about the resurrection of the dead in the cemetery on the mount. It is to the Mount of Olives that Jesus will return in the last days…..
Ezekiel 44:1-3″ Then he brought me back the way of the gate of the outward sanctuary which looketh toward the east; and it was shut. Then said the Lord unto me; This gate shall be shut, it shall not be opened, and no man shall enter in by it; because the Lord, the God of Israel, hath entered in by it, therefore it shall be shut. It is for the prince; the prince!”
THE EASTERN GATE REMAINS SHUT AND IS AWAITING THE PRINCE OF PEACE!!! HALLELUJAH!
Zechariah 14:4 ” And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south.”
The LORD is going to return and open the gate. Wow and double wow!

destination…israel…
Ok, my peeps!! Tomorrow we leave for Israel! I am going to be taking my laptop so I can download pictures and you can see what I see….
I’m excited. I have packed, un-packed, re-packed and then started over again, about 6 times. I think I might have finally accepted what I am going to be taking.
Today I will spend the time cooking for Jimmy….although he knows and I know that he will be spending the evenings at Mortons Steakhouse. So….just in case he doesn’t feel like steak…well, he will have spanish rice, beans, chilaques and tortillas. That way he can have tacos or burritos….whatever his little heart desires….He’s so easy….
So, wish us a safe journey and because of the time change, there might be a day of no posting…..but you will hear from us soon!!!
KISSES!!!!!!!!!

where’d she go??
Pretty soon (March 3rd) I’ll be heading off to Israel!!! This will be my second trip and I’m sure it will be just as wonderful as the first!
But here’s the dealio…..I’m taking my iPad and have (finally) figured out how to download my pictures. So each day I will download pictures and tell about where we are and what we’re doing.
Bad part…….I cannot get the pictures to my blog page.. (insert gasps and wailing here)…Soooo….if you want to know ALL ABOUT the trip….I will need you to check Facebook. If you are somewhere out there and are NOT my Facebook friend…..send a request and I will add you. Unless you are a creeper….then, I’m not sure what I’ll do.
So, each day I will post pictures and tell a little bit about each one so you can ‘walk with me’. Although your ‘walk’ will be a tad less expensive than mine… but YOU WON’T GET BLISTERS!!
It’s going to be great and I can’t wait to let you in on all the scoop. Don’t you want Jerusalem scoop? Sure you do!!!
Just think! You can live vicariously through me! How fun is that? Super fun, I tell you.
So, let’s get this Facebook thingy out of the way and start living the life……..

the auschwitz album…
The Only Surviving Album of Auschwitz…
This is a horrible part of history that should never be forgotten!
This is the story of a Hungarian Jewish woman who survived Auschwitz.
Immediately after her liberation, she found a coat belonging to a guard,
which she took to shield herself from the cold. In the pocket of this coat
she found a photo album. It contained pictures of what went on in this
extermination camp. Imagine her reaction when she saw a picture of herself
coming off of the train, as well pictures of her family, who had already
been murdered.
This album at Yad Vashem in Jerusalem was donated by this woman in 1980, and
will forever be displayed there. When you have 5 minutes of peace and quiet
in front of your computer, watch it because it is truly moving and important…
