Many people have questions about eternal life after death. Death is a reality we know for sure. The reality of life after death, for some, is impossible to know.
In fact, in this regard, some Christians have difficulty believing in it, also. Since the beginning of the Christian faith, professing believers doubted the reality of life after death. The apostle John wrote to make sure they knew, for sure, these simple facts: God gave eternal life as a gift to believers in Christ; this life exists through the Son; so, if you have the Son, you have life—forever.
As a pastor I have noticed when death comes “knocking at the door” of some believers, their reaction is doubt and fear. But our attitude doesn’t have to be apprehension. We can rest assured in our “lifetime warranty.” The God who gave the Son promised us life forever. We know, for sure!
Father, help me face death and proclaim with certainty I have eternal life in the Son.
